Free speech

What does free speech mean to us?What does communicating on a Global portal mean to us
Just curious......
Is it a private affair like a family fight,? or we don't care?
Is it a forum to resolve our different points of view... and share and listen that another POV can exist without getting threatened by it.?
Is it a private lving room, where private conversations occur or a public forum?
Somewhere, I suspect that issue is about distinguishing betwen the public and the private... and the accepted norms of communication for each.....
I heard once on a radio, a ex- russian talking about free speech being that for which we may be willing to lay down our life, if the need be....or a limb.. and for a second I thought it was pretty extremist... till he explained.... what so many take for granted so easily is truly a privelege, which we need to guard with our own actions....
So guys... What does free speech mean to you... and what would you do to protect your right?
